DGS Welcomes Kendall Abu-Hakim As New Assistant Deputy Director of Operations

Kendall Abu-Hakim

Kendall Abu-Hakim has joined DGS as our Assistant Deputy Director of Operations. In this new role, Kendall looks to grow as a leader of leaders to help DGS's operational divisions - Fleet Management, Facilities Maintenance, Capital Projects, and Energy- continue to provide excellent service and know-how.

Kendall's career began in street light maintenance and rapidly expanded to include management and deployment of electrical infrastructure for large public events. Later, as the General Superintendent of Transportation Maintenance in the Baltimore City Department of Transportation, Kendall's responsibilities expanded to include city landscaping, street signs, crosswalks, lane markings, special events, and facilities maintenance.

Most recently, Kendall served as the Chief of the Baltimore City Department of Transportation Maintenance Division, where he has been responsible for Signs and Markings, Special Events, Facilities Maintenance, Landscaping, Highway Maintenance, Bridge Maintenance, Street Lighting, and Snow Removal.

Kendall earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and completed his Certified Public Manager certification at the University of Baltimore. Kendall says that his commitment to his community led him to work for the City of Baltimore, where he is a lifelong resident. Happily married for 21 years and counting, he is a father of four and grandfather to six. Kendall currently lives in the Windsor Hills community. In his free time, he enjoys documentaries, baseball, and running.
